I have always been interested in fashion and crochet. When I was little, there were never any dresses or tops I truly loved. Growing up as a plus-size Hispanic girl, there were big limitations on what we could and could not wear. I was shamed for wearing certain clothes solely because it made me happy. I would comply at times and wear what I was “supposed to wear” to make others around me satisfied with the way I looked: proper, elegant, and girly ALWAYS. My eyes became aware of this problem once I moved away to New York City and developed a passion for fashion, clothes, and my forever love of crochet. Enjoy the top portion of a dress I will not continue developing. “Top of Dress”w showed me the ultimate level of patience, and while it was interesting going through the process of measuring myself constantly, using the sewing machine, and connecting all the pieces, it will be a while until I try and crochet a dress again. Crochet is time-consuming, and although I work fast and completed this top in less than two months, the strain my mind would take, well, it can no longer withstand it, and that’s okay. I will forever love crochet and will never stop!
