‍ ‍ Hello! My name is Isabella Mendoza, and I am a Fine Artist originally from Miami, Florida, but I am currently based in Brooklyn, New York. My work thrives on staple taboos and the monstrosity that grotesqueness provides. To be uncomfortable is the most comforting. My work is heavily influenced by colors and my dreams, poetry, and my memories, your weird thoughts, and my weird thoughts, and things that cease to exist (until I create them).

     My art derives from my complex relationship with memories, music, and the world of dreams. I revisit my memories, in which the memory itself does not exist. I create scenes and creatures that exist in my mind and need to escape. Including my friends and family as characters in my pieces solidifies a connection between the real world and the surrealistic reality I live daily. Connecting the people physically in my life and the people in my mind creates a deeper-rooted connection to the version I see of the people I depict. With no limitations, I enjoy using all sorts of mediums because I have specific ideas that will not favorably translate if I choose to do a painting over a performance piece. I am open about the memories I depict, but may never reveal the truth.
